Search Optimization Key Word Program Case History Recently, one of our clients came to us stating that they needed more business and they they would like to achieve higher rankings across the top 5 major search engines. Here is what we did in relation to their requests: First we asked them to come up with up to twenty key word phrases that they felt were applicable to their site and the type of customer that they hoped to attract. Upon completion of the keyword phrase list, we took a look at some of their competitors using their new terms for search operators. We then narrowed down the list to ten primary keyword phrases. Although they already occupied some top positions for a few of their chosen promotional terms, they felt that where they were could be improved. We conducted a base line position report and charted all of their terms, cross referencing the five top search engines. We then provided the client with this report and offered them the opportunity to amend their list of keyword phrases to be worked with during this promotion. They made the determination that they were happy with the list and where they occupied top twenty positioning, they challenged us to improve their positioning. We graciously accepted the challenge of the entire project and set to work by using those ten primary phrases. We began to create a series of additional information pages for the site. These pages were created using the best known methods for attracting search engine attention and recognition. In total we created over thirty content pages with content inspired by only 10 primary keyword phrases. Additionally we purchased two more domains for the client. Why additional domains? The additional domains bore direct relevancy to two of the primary products that they offered. Additionally the newly acquired domains allowed us to create content and presented cross link opportunities. Cross linking with other sites that offer synergistic content is often judged to be one of the best ways to increase your positioning, especially in Google. As our new pages were created and we felt satisfied that they would meet our objectives we added them to a continuing list of all of the new pages being created and the terms that were used. We also submitted each page to the search engines as they were being completed, keeping in mind to stay within the daily page submission limitations. Beginning at around 40 days after our initial submissions we began to query the search engines based on our keyword terms and over all of the url's that the terms applied to. Some of our pages were slightly modified in their content to be applied to other url's that the client maintained. As we did our searches we also maintained charts to keep us aware of where we were gaining positions or if we were losing positions. We also paid attention to the flow of traffic to to the clients sites. As our positioning increased we began to see a marked difference in the flow of traffic to the main site. As our search engine positioning increased, traffic began to increase too. What's more the traffic percentage increase was greater the percentage increase in the number of top ten positions. Accordingly, the clients sales were also bolstered and continued to rise along side the positioning that was attained. After 60 - 75 days, the number of top twenty search engines positions over the top five search engines improved in excess of 70% and their site traffic improved and settled down to maintaining an increase of just over 50%. Product orders and inquiries also increased at approximately 55%. We have obtained similar successes with other clients, yet we must advise that not all keyword promotion programs will be this successful however, our experiences indicate that these types of results are not atypical.
